Karl Gustafsson

Swedish footballer (1888–1960)

Karl "Köping" Gustafsson (16 September 1888 – 20 February 1960) was a Swedishfootball player who competed at the 1908, 1912, and 1920 Summer Olympics.[1][2]

Career

Club career

On club level, Gustafsson represented IFK Köping, Köpings IS, Djurgården, Hallstahammar, and Westmannia.[3] He won two Svenska Mästerskapet with Djurgården.[4]

International career

On 12 July 1908, Gustafsson scored Sweden's first ever international goal in the team's first match, an 11–3 win over Norway.[5][6] In 1912 he played as a midfielder in one match in the main tournament as well as one match in the consolation tournament. In the 1920 tournament he was also a part of the Swedish football team, as well as in the 1924 tournament, where he did not play.[7]

In total, Gustafsson made 32 appearances for Sweden and scored 22 goals.[8]

Carl Gustafsson was born in Helsingborg in 1952, moved to Lund in 1973 and started art studies at Grafikskolan Forum, Malmö 1974 after attending model-drawing and sculpting classes for A. Sandström, Kristianstad. Besides the five years in Malmö he also took drawing lessons at Glyptoteket, Copenhagen and model drawing lessons for Jacques Zadig. He has had about forty solo exhibitions since the first one in 1976.
