He is an Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, a two-time overall World Cup champion in 2005 and 2008, and the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time. Miller stands as the second most decorated Winter Olympic athlete in US history, having won six Olympic medals, including a gold, three silvers, and two bronze. He is also considered one of the greatest World Cup racers of all time, with 33 victories – the most by any American male and seventh most in the sport's history.

  Notably, Miller is one of only two men to win a World Cup race in the four primary disciplines in a single season and one of only five men to win a race in all five alpine skiing disciplines in a career.
