I’m Professor and Head of Philosophy at the University of Georgia. From 2005 to 2019, I worked at the University of Leeds in Leeds, UK. Before my move to Leeds, I taught at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. And before that, I did my PhD at Rutgers University. I received my undergraduate degree from Brown University.

I work on a variety of issues in Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Art. Some of my recent work is experimental in nature. I also do some work in Philosophical Psychology and, recently, on the Philosophy of Food. Much of my work is collaborative in nature. I learn a lot from working with other people, and I enjoy the process.

I have supervised successful PhD theses on aesthetic disagreement, empathy, online philosophy education, creativity and skill in the arts, science and the imagination, and the history of aesthetics.

I was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Ashford, Connecticut and Columbia, Maryland. (I also lived in Canberra and Storrs.)
