Banjul, The Gambia, March 22, 2022 - The Gambia Swimming and Aquatic Sports Association has elected Dr Njogou Lamin Bah president on Saturday 19th March 2022, during the Elective General Assembly of GSASA. The former Secretary-General and Head of Civil Service of The Gambia will serve a mandate of four years ending in 2026, succeeding Ms Bintou Touray Huma, whose term ended after the Olympic Games 2020.
The Secretary-General of the association Mr Yorro Njie read the activity report detailing some of the achievements and activities carried out by the Association since 2019, whilst Cherno MS Jallow, the Treasurer, gave the financial report. Congress adopted all the reports presented before them. As part of the proceeding, Congress adopted the new constitution of the GSASA, which provided a quota for women in the executive and athletes representation, respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Bah thanked the delegates for their trust in electing him as their president.

Bah, erstwhile Secretary General, Head of the Civil Services and Presidential Affairs Minister yesterday 9th December, 2014 in his defence narrated his side of the story, ranging from his educational career, how he came back to his country, and subsequent appointments in various prominent positions amongst others. Mr. Bah made these revelations at the lower court in Banjul presided over by Principal Magistrate Dawda Jallow. During his defence, Mr. Bah told the court that he was a resident of Busumbala, West Coast Region but currently serving in State Central Prison, Mile II. According to him, prior to his arrest, he briefly served as Minister of Petroleum but prior to that, he was the Secretary General, Head of the Civil Services and also Minister of Presidential Affairs. “Can you tell the court what type of doctorate you have?” his attorney quizzed. “PhD in Public Administration from Rochvile University in United States,” he responded. Judgment date set in former SG Njogu Bah and Co trial
Dr. Njogu Bah the former Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, the former Justice Minister, and the former Solicitor General will soon know their fate, after the Special Criminal Court yesterday set 17th December 2013 as the date it would deliver its judgment.
Dr Njogu Bah, Lamin Jobarteh and Pa Harry Jammeh respectively are facing trial on a three-count charge, which included conspiracy to carry out a lawful purpose by an unlawful means, giving false information to a public officer, and abuse of office, charges they all denied.
The latest development in the case followed the address made by the defence counsel for the accused persons, and the reply by the state prosecutors.
In his address to the court yesterday, defence counsel BS Touray told the court that “there is no witness who said the accused persons had given false information,’’ and called for the accused persons to be acquitted and discharged, as the state had failed to discharge the burden imposed on the prosecution.
