Sir Ian KershawFRHistS FBA (born 29 April 1943) is an English historian whose work has chiefly focused on the social history of 20th-century Germany. He is regarded by many as one of the world's foremost experts on Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany, and is particularly noted for his biographies of Hitler.[1]

He was a follower of the German historian Martin Broszat, and until his retirement, he was a professor at the University of Sheffield. Kershaw has called Broszat an "inspirational mentor" who did much to shape his understanding of Nazi Germany.[2] Kershaw served as historical adviser on numerous BBC documentaries, notably The Nazis: A Warning from History and War of the Century. He taught a module titled "Germans against Hitler".[3]

Ian Kershaw was born on 29 April 1943 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, to Joseph Kershaw, a musician, and Alice (Robinson) Kershaw.[4][5] He was educated at Counthill Grammar School, St Bede's College, Mancheste

THE STORY SO FAR

For Ian Gregoire, the journey to becoming an author was a long one with many stops and starts along the way. It began at seven years of age when he read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe by C.S. While he can’t for the life of him remember what his story was about, he has never forgotten that it earned him a runners-up place, and a certificate presented to him during a school assembly. From that moment he knew he was meant to be a fiction writer, though he never suspected it would take him three decades to reach his destination.
